September 2009 Board Briefing

The Board appointed members to three committees … (1) Nominating: Marlene Mahn and John Raley (2) Financial Review: Jack Campbell (Chair), Paul Wickland, Susan Stolz, Mike Radochonski (3) Endowment Fund: Jan Christiansen, John Raley

  • The Board invited staff leaders Diana Vander Pas and Tim Kaufmann to discuss aspects of the Adult P.E.A.C.E. Group and 20-25 year old ministries. The Board intends to dialogue with other staff leaders to see how their ministry fits into supporting the Desired Outcomes of our congregation and also discuss what is/isn’t working well in the ministry.
  • The Board reviewed Pastor C’s first progress report on the congregation’s Desired Outcomes and associated Metrics. The Desired outcomes are:
    • Evangelism: Non-believers/unchurched are coming to faith in Christ and are being enfolded in the life of the church.
    • Assimilation: Every person who joins the church is using his/her gifts to accomplish the work of the church.
    • Discipleship: Church members are encouraged, challenged and equipped to take “next steps” as a disciple of Jesus.
    • Pastoral Care: Every person in the church is known, loved and cared for in a personal way.
  • The Board plans to report to the congregation about our progress toward the desired outcomes at the upcoming voters meetings. Please mark your calendars:
    • Informational Meeting—Sunday, December 6th at 9:15 am in the gym
    • Voters Assembly—Sunday, December 13th at 12:15 pm in the sanctuary.
    • Coming up for the Board of Directors: (1) Additional dialogue with staff and congregation members (2) Ministry Plans review for 2009-2010 (3) Budget planning for 2010
